Suitability

booked Casatori with Rafaella for a week in late September for a convention at Bologna Fiere. My goal was to find a place that was hospitable logistically for business and for comfort during the stay. I also preferred an immersion in italian street life so it would be a bit more authentic experience rather than a sanitized, touristic one.

Casatori was it!
First of all, Casatori is located in a section of the Bologna City centre on the third floor of a charming building that dates back to the 1200s. That location was excellent for a couple of reasons. One, it was within walking distance to the central train station where its very convenient to buy a reasonably priced ticket for a day trip down to Florence or most any other interesting Italian destination; secondly, its close to the Piazza Maggiore, the main social gathering spot for the city where one can absorb the social energy of this ancient (to this american) city . There you can often find concerts and other performances or dine at nice restaurants that sit on the square, dine well in the Bolognese tradition, and people watch.
Just outside Casatori itself were a number of cafes, pasticerria, pizza restaurants, wine bars, convenience stores, clothing shops, etc … All staffed with surprisingly friendly people. One waitress said that she told the bartender as I walked in that she guessed I was from Texas, and specifically Dallas. Which is where I am from! So, that was pretty amazing. I wasn’t even wearing my cowboy hat or boots!
Casatori itself was unique to me. I Iiked that it was a two floor apartment with an upstairs, wood paneled library with a cozy couch that was very comfortable to relax on, catch some SKY shows, or sip a glass of wine, with the occasional church bell ringing in the background for a musical interlude.
The kitchen had everything I wanted, even had a second floor bathroom. Downstairs, the bedroom and bed were very comfortable. The bath and shower were just what I needed to get cleaned and dressed for business.
I travel a lot so I’m used to problems with wifi. In fact, I kind of expect wifi problems. So, I was surprised that the wifi at casatori was perfect!
Casatori is a cozy, comfortable, and convenient place and Rafaella was so helpful in helping this naive Texan figure out answers to my several and often silly questions.
I highly recommend Casatori and Rafaella hospitality for your stay in this historical and interesting city!

Getting there

Casatori is in a very central location, in an area that has limited traffic (called ZTL), but if you arrive by car it is possible to find a space in a garage close-by.
The apartment is very close to the train station and if your luggage is not big you can easily walk (15 minutes) to Casatori. From the airport you can take a taxi (about 22-25 Euros) or a bus “Airbus” that arrives very close to the apartment.
