Snow Pines is located at approximately 5000 ft elevation in the quiet community of “Big Trees” in the beautiful SIerra Nevada mountain range of Northern California, with proximity to clear mountain streams and literally tens of thousands of acres of largely uninhabited redwood & pine covered mountains. An assortment of shops, restaurants and supermarket are however only 15 minutes drive down the mountain to Arnold, “gateway to the Sierras” a mountain community of around 4000.
The mountain home is located In a beautiful year round resort area popular with active families who love the outdoors. The area is largely undiscovered by European visitors, but can be the highlight of any North American visit! The location enjoys endless sunny days around 27c (79F) in the summer months and potentially several meters of snow in the winter! The main road Highway 4 leading to Ebbetts Pass, is however well maintained up to Bear Valley ski resort all year, (approx 18 mile passed Snow PInes). Snowmobiles can be rented in Bear Valley to ride further up highway 4 in winter – a trip not to be missed!
Snow Pines is in a very quiet elevated position on 3 levels, including a loft, and enjoys electric heating and a wood burning stove for those winter days and nights. An ample wood supply is included. While there are neighbours, it is not unusual to see only a handful of cars passing all day !
This location will appeal to adventurous families and couples looking for something different. Access is good with any rental car except in winter, when a 4 wheel drive and/or snow chains are recommended.

Bedrooms

Snow Pines has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, one on the ground floor and one on the 2nd floor adjacent to the main living area. A third single bedroom is also situated on the 2nd floor. In addition, the loft overlooking the living room has an additional 2 single beds. Although there are sleeping arrangements for 7 persons, please note that there is only 1 bathroom.

Living room

The living room has an open plan feel with cathedral ceilings, huge windows and is extensively finished in wood. Furniture includes a new settee, native rocking chair and footrest and tv/vcr/dvd combo with game cube. Please note we currently do not have cable or satellite tv, but do have an assortment of family tapes and dvd’s.

Kitchen

Kitchen is open plan & adjacent to the living room, and has a new refrigerator and large new stainless steel stovetop and oven with downdraft exhaust and grilling area. Includes microwave, coffee maker, toaster and electric griddle (great for pancakes, eggs and breakfast meats).

Other rooms

The chalet has a large wrap around deck on the 2nd floor, and a single garage built in to the lower floor with auto opener, and includes a large washer and drier in the garage.
